Crawl-space insulation: moisture and access first
Cold floors are a reason to investigate. The right scope starts with the crawl space beneath them, including water history, access and the location of services.
Prepare a useful description
You do not need to enter a difficult crawl space to make an enquiry. Describe the access hatch from a normal accessible position, approximate property age and the rooms above it. Mention standing water, seasonal dampness, plumbing leaks, odours and any previous work. Existing inspection photographs are more useful than a guess about the material you need.
Identify the proposed boundary

Separate drainage from insulation

Set out the handover
Request a marked scope, preparation and removal allowances, product identification, access requirements and photographs of completed accessible areas. Ask the contractor to explain any required protective covering for the proposed foam system. Record exclusions around mechanical equipment and future maintenance access. These details make competing proposals much easier to compare.
